How to Play the Baby Due Date Guessing Game
The baby due date pool is a classic shower game that keeps everyone involved, even after the party is over. It’s easy to set up and fun for all ages, from great-grandparents to coworkers. Here’s how you can host one:
1. Set Up Your Calendar
Pick a design from our collection that fits your theme. When customizing, start the calendar two weeks before the due date and end two weeks after. This way, you include people who guess the baby will come early or late!
2. Let Guests Place Their Bets
At the shower, display your printed calendar somewhere everyone can see it (like the gift table). Provide a permanent marker and ask guests to write their name on the date they think the baby will be born. For an extra challenge, have them write their time-of-birth guess in the corner of the box as a tie-breaker.
3. Announce the Winner
After the baby is born, the host tells the guest who picked the right date, or the closest one. If more than one person is right, use the time of birth or the baby’s weight to pick the winner!
Creative Prize Ideas for the Winner
Since the winner won’t be announced until the baby actually arrives, you can either hand out a prize at the shower for the ‘best guess’ or mail a gift to the winner after the birth. Here are some fun prize ideas for the winner:
- The “Coffee & Cuddles” Card: A $10 – $20 gift card to a local coffee shop – perfect for the guest who stayed up late waiting for the birth announcement.
- Self-Care Spa Kit: A scented candle, a bath bomb, and a nice hand cream.
- Nostalgic Treat Box: A box of “Born in [Year]” retro candies or locally made chocolates.
- The “Celebration” Bottle: A nice bottle of wine or a sparkling cider to toast the new arrival.
- Themed Gift Basket: If you used a Woodland theme, a cozy forest-scented candle and a wooden picture frame make a thoughtful follow-up gift.
